charade .traces of outlines left behind auburn leaves fell, swaying gently on the breeze. it was peaceful and charming, enchanting any and all who cared to stare at its wonderful existence. a sorrowful happening occurred, however, as a sudden wind shattered its quiet reverie. like the leaf's daydream, it was broken, fragile veins snapping in halves and quarters, fluttering down to the ground in a sad pile of shreds. this one small occurrence seemed to not bother anything in the circle of life but for one, who gazed at the menacing omen in shock and despair. blinking, she took a step back, muscles rippling under her pelt. then she ran fled. this was unusual for such an insane feline; normally she would just go on her way. but her heart was thumping so dramatically she knew it had to do something with her life and history. suddenly, however, she paused in her mad dash, brows furrowing and face creasing into a shrieking cackle. oh, what did it matter, anyways? she was being a fool. it was a mere dream, wasn't it? a nightmare, perhaps, although she was not burdened with the the weight of a teasing nightmare for quite a long time. this was intruiging, she said to herself, chiding her fears away. then she demanded herself that she woke up.
and she did.
one might question her dominion over such things, but this did not matter -- to herself, at least. charade merely purred and went on her way, giving herself a wakeful lick here and there. it was dawn; she'd best be going. charade padded towards the cracked, burnt highway and followed the road northward, pressing herself on to continue her journey. it was important to her, indeed. she was trying to focus on getting to the city, although that would take some effort, so she hoped she could stop along the way to play with some fool. taking a deep breath, her paws moved, pads sizzling on the boiling concrete. even at sunrise, when the day was supposed to be nice and cool, the burning ball above her seared her fur, singing it with the scent of warm autumn. a gusty wind still reached the depths of her marrow, however, so misery of temperatures made her limbs quite weary. still, she progressed like a pilgrim, watchful of how exhausted she got and also of her surroundings -- and yet she didn't give up. determination suppressed her tiredness.
eventually, gaze swimming, she stopped by the heated path and crashed onto her flank. even though her trip was only spent trodding and walking, the hot sun and the cold winds was too much to bear. her eyes stung with gravel; her paws were gooey with motor oil; her hide was sodden and tainted with dust... and then, of course, it all felt even worse with hunger gnawing at her stomach and the sour taste of travel on her tongue. all she could do was sit back and close her eyes to rest...

` The rays of the morning light seemed to dance over the horizon as a feline walked along the side of the highway, her eyes drawn to the smooth look to the Highway that stretched as far into the distance her eyes could take her, disappearing to the very place where the sun rose from it's long sleep...though she knew that that wasn't the real end to the road, it was just as far as her eyes could comprehend. She had been awake for a long period of time. She hadn't slept since the day before when the sun was high in the sky. This feline, known the cats who lived with her in the Tribe of the Stars Above, was none other than Aura of Burning Colors. Although her name held some vigor in it, it was obvious that her appearance held nothing. White with some black plus more white and black in her eyes. There was not a single color that seemed to fill itself in on her pelt.
` But that was the way life was. All her color, was in her personality, hidden away from the eyes of the living unless they took the time to peel themselves away from the conformity of first glance perception to truly sere the truth. That in itself, showed that even from birth, there was much putting itself into her very being because taking on from normal thinking was the very basis of her thinking, the basis of her personality. Her gaze shifted up to the sky above, watching as the clouds shined with the many different colors that were a result of the sun's reflection off of them, but still, this was only her second favorite part of the day, tied with sunset. There was never any chance for any part of the day to ever match up with the wonders and beauty of the night sky. Anything can happen in the night, and you can never see it coming. The day, gives far too much light out across the world and nothing is a mystery then.
` Aura hadn't realized that sher had carefully moved up onto the actual road and off the land beside it until the heat burned her paws and she let out a small yelp, but shook her head and continued walking, her eyes still trained on the skies above, ignoring the pain that came from walking on the hard and hot tar. Suddenly, she felt her paw hit something and she found herself stumbling forward. Whatever she had hit, it had tripped her and as she stumbled trying to get a grip on herself again, swinging her tail to hep with balance, time seemed to slow down almost to a standstill. Next thing she knew, she bumped into something else that helped her get a grip on herself and she stumbled to her paws, finding balance at last. She realized what she had bumped into was a feline an her eyes open wide and she stammered, "U-Uh, s-sorry. I--I t-t-tripped. I-i d-d-didn't mean it." As soon a she managed to to spit the last words our clearly, she stepped back, her eyes darting away from the feline.

charade .traces of outlines left behind as she was dreamily thinking of better times a sudden thump was heard and felt. shocked, she whipped herself around. all shock vanished, replaced by down anger or scolding, but slight pity and understanding. she saw herself for just a moment, sitting there and shivering with wide eyes and utter pleading, but she easily slipped away from that stance and brought her expression to a smirk. all of those emotions passed by within a fraction of a second as time slowed. still, the present was the present; charade took note of the female's stutterings and stared, her mind focused in like a tunnel on the slender she-cat. as her brain deciphered and unlocked ways to play with her like a card, she mewed, "oh, nonsense! what's your business, kitty?"her tail lashed back and forth for a few moments, a slight menacing role taking on, although she finally settled down and relaxed, tenderly lifting up her paw and letting her tongue flash out and pass over her claws. as she waited for the slow stranger to recover, charade decided she may as well pluck at her raw pads and rid them of any lodged pebbles. she discovered a pretty large one right inbetween her claws; she purred with an icy smoothness as she knocked out that soreness. just then, her stomach rumbled once more. disgust wrapped around her face as she turned around and began to lick the dusty surface of her bedraggled fur. she closed her eyes and suppressed a sigh, setting her paw down and giving the other a long look. "well?"ooc. sorry, short post Dx.

` Quiet found itself dragged in between the two she-cats until suddenly, Aura's ears flickered when she realized that the feline had spoken to her. "oh, nonsense! what's your business, kitty?" Aura found her mind steadily at work turning over all the possible answers that she could drag out to reply with. Without realizing it, she had sat down the the road, her tail wrapping around herself. If the other feline had been able to glance into Aura's eyes, she would have seen something different about them. A calculating glaze had covered over her nervous expression from when she had run - or more like stumbled - into the she-cat. Traveling for the sake of it? Exploring the world? Trying to discover the world's secrets?Learning what was held out beyond the borders of the Tribe's lands? Seeking what kinds of cats lived way out here?... The thoughts went on and on, forming a list that she would eventually try to pick out an answer to. If she had known this cat, if she wasn't nervous about how this cat would perceive her words, she would have spoken them out loud.
` But as it was her worrisome and shyness got the better of her and kept it all locked up. "well?" The word seemed to drill itself through her thoughts and stopped them immediately. She still didn't look up at the feline. She swallowed nervously before replying finally, "I was just out, exploring the world. Trying to find out more about it." She knew that might sound odd to some cats, since not every cat out there liked the things that she did and none of them even had the concentration that she did at times. Even simple things like blades of grass that moved in the wind seemed to catch her curiosity and made her look at them in a new prospect with a new mind and a new sense of longing. Nothing is as it seems, after all, she thought to herself and no-one knew that better than she did herself in prospect to her own being and smiled at the thought. She might be a bit shy on the outside at the first few encounters until she could learn to trust you, but every cat that got to know her for who she really was, soon learned differently.
` With a bit of courage renewed her body, the she-cat stole a glance at the she-cat she had run into, looking her over for a moment. The burning sense to figure out who she was, what she was doing out here herself, and what she was like, started to arise in Aura, though she was still a bit offset. She got back onto her paws and strolled forward a few pawsteps, gazing at the feline from ear-tip to paw. Her eyes wide once more, but this time in attempt to see more than what she might already see. Without really thinking about what she was saying, she mewed, "What are you doing out here? Who are you?" She paused her words as she realized she was getting too close for hr own comfort and stepped back again a couple pawsteps before taking in the scents on the breeze. She doesn't smell like any cat from either of the Tribes. Who is she, really? Her tail flickered and she suddenly noticed something she had missed before: the feeling had lashed her tail and suddenly Aura got a feeling of worry again. Who had she stumbled into and what might this feline do to her? After all, the lashing of the tail meant something different than her words had. The questions caused Aura's eyes to gaze away once more at the road beneath her paws.

charade .traces of outlines left behind as more time was spent, charade's tail lashed, her narrowed and scrutinizing eyes looking over the other with care. finally, the stranger seemed to regain her balance and knowledge of things. she muttered something quite strange -- something that hardly another cat would utter, much less think. "i was just out, exploring the world. trying to find out more about it." a silky purr suddenly escaped her throat, ears twitching and greedily taking in the sound of the other's voice. it was a queer desire, to be sure. even more moments passed, and an uncommon sense of impatience struck charade. this female was being too slow and too thoughtful. she couldn't play with such a fool!
the next words that were thrusted out of the other's maw took charade off guard. she tenderly placed a paw back, a soft growl replacing the silky purr. "what are you doing out here? who are you?" the stranger asked, getting in far too close for charade's comfort. the black and white female sensed that as well, and must have had a similar feeling, for she suddenly stepped back, as well. her gaze swept away from charade's dark pools as if she was cowardice. a grunt was heard coming from charade's mouth; she felt a tad bit triumphant, although that emotion wasn't challenged. she merely waved her tail in the air and let a smirk cross her muzzle. this was a fine chance for her to reveal her smart riddles and clever jokes. she paced back and forth for a moment, tossing looks over at the liably confused stranger. a small chuckle expressed charade's pure joy. leaping a few tails ahead, she whipped around, a sparkle shimmering in her black hollows.
"i come from the land far away, in the swaying fars afar. 'tis be unknown and traveling war, i always wander these streets and paths to be told. riddles i tell to those who need, unleash my claws upon thee. i play thou cards like a devil, and let the game of life run. my dear, i am here for you to listen. o, hark the herald, i see... listen closely." charade bowed her head and gave a sweet little mew. this was her tactic, indeed; she giggled like a madman, an insane fellow to be heard by all. she found glee in uttering such things and confusing the other. perhaps she was insane, indeed; most would perceive her to be if she spoke of such things. she tempted herself to cross the line and go on, although self control refrained her from doing so. oh, how she adored making others think of her being something other than her true self.

` The lean feline was starting to get more uncomfortable by the minute the longer she stayed out here alone with this feline. Everything the other cat did made her uneasy, though on the inside she was carefully taking notes and pushing the ideas she gained to the side. This feline was not a part of her tribe, she did not necessarily feel the pull of knowledge as she new quite a few in the Tribe of the Stars Above and that was one piece of tidbit knowledge that kept her from saying anything that might embarrass her more than what she had already said. She gazed at the she-cat and noted the way she pulled back on of her paws and heard the small growl that had escaped her throat. This was clearly not a feline that she could get along with and it was clearly laid out that she did not wish to be polite to Aura. It was signs like this that made the shell around Aura's mind rise even further to block out the other cat from realizing what type of cat she was. She just didn't feel like getting herself into anymore trouble than she already was.
` Although her gaze wasn't directed towards the other she-cat, Aura still carefully gazed at her from the corner of her eye, taking in all the little movements that she could see from that angle. The tail waving in the air, the smirk on the face, the pacing back and forth and glancing at Aura as she did so. To Aura, all these little signs suddenly made her feel like a trapped piece of prey. It was as if she was a mouse already caught in the claws of the predator that had been stalking it since it left the safety of it burrow. Perhaps it was just her being over cautious, but either way she wasn't about to let her guard down. To the other feline she knew she must look weak and in all possibilities she was. She was a hunter, after all, not a guard. She had no special skills that could help her in a fight, especially since her muscle mass was low. All she had on her side was her fast processing mind and her lean body that gave her flexibility and speed. She just hoped that was enough. If it wasn't, if the other feline had more to help her gain the upper hand, Aura knew she was in danger. There was no-one else out here to come to her aid and that made her tail flicker to the side.
` Aura was snapped out of her thoughts and concentration by the sudden movements that brought the feline closer and almost in thew same moment, Aura leaped backyard a bit. Sure it wasn't the same distance and the feline was a lot closer to Aura now, but suddenly the thought seemed to matter less. "riddles i tell to those who need, unleash my claws upon thee." Aura narrow her eyes slightly as she looked back at the feline as she spoke, taking in those words and trying to figure out the meaning behind the riddle in which she spoke. A grin flickered across her face and she looked at the she-cat again, catching at least part of her words meaning and for the parts shew didn't, she would just pretend she did. She was a feline that would not admit when the words of a fellow cat the better part of her mind even though not every cat thought the same way and they could interpret those words differently. "There is no greater riddle that the riddle of life and why this world even exists. Th day you can come to me and tell me that, I shall listen to all the riddles you have to offer. But you know what? Not all riddles have answers and that riddle I gave you, is such a riddle. I refuse to get caught up in the slurs of your words. You may play trickery on a cat's mind that way, but it won't affect mine so easily." In a way, Aura had trained herself to become immune to the majestic way riddles were spoken by her own endless amount of questions and the riddles handed to her by the universe itself.

charade .traces of outlines left behind she carefully eyed the other, lashing her tail still with an impish smirk on her face. she twitched, anxious for the she-cat to freak with overall confusion and wailing. indeed, she did seem to be weak, and although charade was usually wary of such suspicious things, she let her guard down for the desperation of one's despair. her smirk widened as she took one more step forward, an eerie joy about her. as the stranger's maw opened wide to speak, words of surprising confidence slipped out. stunned from the first note of sureness, charade's ears flattened, her lip curling into the beginnings of a snarl. unsheathing her claws, she watched carefully as the words continued to spill out. "there is no greater riddle that the riddle of life and why this world even exists. the day you can come to me and tell me that, i shall listen to all the riddles you have to offer. but you know what? not all riddles have answers and that riddle i gave you, is such a riddle. i refuse to get caught up in the slurs of your words. you may play trickery on a cat's mind that way, but it won't affect mine so easily."
this completely shocked her, eyes wide in slight panic. "b-b-but... you still haven't thought about it enough yet, dearie hun..." charade was quite determined to crack the rough shell of the other, although she was a bit... frightened at her cleverity. how could such a weakling pursue knowledge? how could such a weakling claw through her forces? it was just... impossible! she shook her head with wonder. then she decided to surrender -- for now, at least. "i'll be seeing you in the future, hun..." she growled, spinning around and trudging away. part of her hoped the other stepped forward to object and accept the new challenge, or perhaps began wailing in utter apology and show a weak side or... sighing, charade lashed her tail, a firm frown shadowing her face. she just longed to spin confusion and play with fools. if she couldn't find the fool of the day, she'd be a wreck...

` "b-b-but... you still haven't thought about it enough yet, dearie hun..." Aura flicked her tail s she stared at the feline, realizing that this female had no idea who Aura could really be. If the feline wanted to play games, Aura could play along, giving questions or observations out in an instance that would leave the other feline's brain stumbling - she thought at least she could stump this feline easily. But then again, she would've had thought the same thing, would she not? Aura figured that this traveler must have seen her shyness as a sign of weakness and must have taken that into confidence that she was nothing but a grown feline with the brain of an untrained kit. That was were she had made her mistake and where she had been wrong to test Aura - it had to be. Aura, didn't think of her as weak, she knew this feline had a good mind, but one trained differently than her own.
` "i'll be seeing you in the future, hun..." Aura's eyes flickered as she watched the feline start to walk away and the feline sighed and shook her head. Without thinking about what she might be doing she muttered loud enough for the stranger to hear, "Those who hold no strength of mind to stand their ground, turn tail and leave. When they see the end is near of what their power can do, they get scared and turn away, searching again for the endless chasm of strength they once bore. But as they turn away, they only find that wall time and time again. The only way to gain strength past what one realizes they have, is to nod, accept they might be at a dead-end, and think of a way to knock that wall down. That's what the mind is, that is what it is here for. To help us knock the barriers down of our limitations so we may grow more, further past than what we ever thought possible..." she trailed off, knowing is she went to far, she would only make things worse, if the feline decided to turn around at her words, that is.
` Aura had no idea what to expect from this other female and she had no idea if the other female even cared to stay close long enough to hear all her words before drifting out of range. Her eyes were on her paws now, only her ears alert for any sign the stranger had stayed. She knew she had dared let the words of her mind tumble from her mouth and she feared the results of it. She knew that not all the time were her words accepted, some labeling her as crazy, but she didn't - fully - care. What she didn't like, was cats who just disregarded her words like they were nothing but mice they could pick and choose to accept without really listening. That irritated her, though irritation wasn't something she showed to many. Only time would tell her, what this stranger would take from her words.

charade .traces of outlines left behind as she walked along, misery dragged at her paws, even within the first few steps. she felt defeated and unworthy of any task now that she failed. charade knew that she would most likely get back onto her feet again, eventually, for she had run into similar problems before. she just wasn't sure when it would happen. as she plodded along, the whispered words of the newfound stranger reached her perked ears. "those who hold no strength of mind to stand their ground, turn tail and leave. when they see the end is near of what their power can do, they get scared and turn away, searching again for the endless chasm of strength they once bore. but as they turn away, they only find that wall time and time again. the only way to gain strength past what one realizes they have, is to nod, accept they might be at a dead-end, and think of a way to knock that wall down. that's what the mind is, that is what it is here for. to help us knock the barriers down of our limitations so we may grow more, further past than what we ever thought possible..."
these words struck her hard, but an instant reply played on her tongue. her head slowly twisted around, black eyes trained on the black and white female behind her. they met with the white eyes of the other, striking as complete opposites. a clever one, she was, but never to match in charade's own lust for fools and figmented words and riddles. "ah, but that is where you are also wrong, my friend, for strength is found when one swallows their senseless pride and turns away in shame, for it is then when they discover how puny they are in this horrid game of a world. it plays with your mind and feeds you jabbering sins until you are overwhelmed and yet you continue to fight it in bloody violence unless you humble yourself."
it was then when she took a deep breath and turned away once more, bounding towards the setting horizon, the sun shimmering as a dark orange, volcanic sphere. the wind her fur, whisping it along and cooling her pounding blood. both victory and failure tasted sweet on her tongue.
