The tumbling waters and the wonderful smells of bliss and happiness swirled around the feline as she stood beside the pool of water. Her white eyes gazed steadily into the shimmering waters and her paw rose from the ground that it had been sitting on and barely grazed the surface of the water. Her paw rose a few inches more from the surface and her eyes watched as the small droplets left her paw one by one, falling slowly and steadily in a nice rhythm. Her ears couldn't help but flicker every time she heard the soft patter as the water hit water. After a few moments when she got the pattern in her head, her gaze slowly - as if she was worried about disturbing the silent, other than the waterfall, peace - lowered to gaze at the water. She watched with deep interest as the droplets sent ripples going off all around where it hit in a sequential circle. She smiled and sighed, her eyes looking upwards, her paw setting back down on the ground.
She smiled as she looked over the dark night sky, watching as the clouds moved in front of the moon, blocking out some of the moonlight that it had been exposing to the world beneath it. It was a beautiful sight - all those stars, the moon, it impressed her more an more every time she gaze up steadily at those stars. The wonder, the endless thoughts that occupied her mind never seemed to stop their tumbling. Those very thoughts seemed to cause a never ending turbulent of currents and in many ways, it seemed to mimic the very same waterfall that now rang in her ears with more demanding power than ever, almost as if it was trying to hold her attention. Her eyes shifted back to the flowing waters and she watched as ever moment more and more water was forced to fall down the length only to find itself in a calm peace of the pool and eventually the small creek that ran past her into the distance of the forest. She could even feel some of the water clinging to her pelt - the water that liked it better in the air rather than in the pool.
Her tail wrapped itself around her body, resting on her paws as her eyes stared at where the water met the water, the image of her earlier experiment fresh in her mind's eye. The pattering of the droplets as they hit the water. The beauty of the circles formed around the moment of impact. The calm, steady pattering of they water as if it was a heart beating to keep something alive. "How are you so different? After falling in clumps rather than droplets. They have so much more of a powerful effect, but is it really just because that it how it is? what could it mean for other things? Can this expand outwards past just the way we see things as they work?" She forced the soft words that tumbled from her mouth to stop in their track. There were so man more things she wanted to get out, so many more questions muddying together in her head, but they wren't needed. None of this was needed, but it was wanted. She wanted to know, she wanted to find this knowledge...she needed to know the truth. That was her life, a series of never ending quests to identify the things no-one else dared to even look for. Those were her skills and she hoped to put them to good use over the course of her life. Sometimes I....just need a little push though. I'm only mortal.

From the shadows the gleaming blue eyes watched the femme with a shocking fascination. There was no hunger, no lust, nothing but simple curiosity alight in those eerie sapphires. He had watched her on and off throughout the whole of her life, always from the shadows. A dark guardian if you will, never truly a part of her life, but never far from the edges of it. He held a secret, like so much of his life. Aura was his daughter, a long ago fling with a bloodthirsty wench who had taught him a valuable lesson. Never trust another, no matter what they might mean to you. Even the most minimal of a connection is a pebble that your enemy can hold over your head leaving you vulnerable.
But still it was times like these, when she was alone contemplating whatever it was that lay behind those colorless optics. Those eyes that reminded him so much of the feline who had abandoned them both. Though he bore nothing but a hatred for that female these days, he still could not find a single part of his rotten soul that wished to see anything ill happen to the herbal gatherer. Which was a puzzle he often mauled over while caught up in quiet moments like these. Where she remain unaware of her dark protector.
She made no secret of her disdain for the path he walked, not that he truly cared how she felt about his ways. She was after all only a hunter, and a plant hunter at that. And he, well he was the leader of this tribe. But he could respect that she did not throw her disdain in his or the rest of his followers faces. It was a visible sign of self restraint, a trait often found lacking in the average feline.
A subtle shift in the wind brought his attention back to the present. Muscles rippled beneath that mocha creme pelt forcing the male from his reclining position. careful steps, silently placed allowed him to circle his daughter, an attempt to keep his scent from being discovered.

A certain feeling seemed to flow through the feline's body. She was unsure where the feeling had come from and its reason for being there, but it made her fur prickle with unease. Her eyes, colorless and causing a paradox in her very name, decided to stay trained in on the water. It was because of that glance of the water that made her realize something: the wind had shifted its course like it did so many times throughout the day, as if it could never make up its mind on where it wanted its destination to be. But it was because of that shift in the wind that she also noticed something odd, a familiar scent on the wind that she could not quite pick out from her mind. It seemed like a scent she should know off the top of her mind, but it just wasn't there.
As the scent seemed to fade out till it was only like a distant memory - her eyes still trained in on the water pouring down from the falls throughout this whole process - that she realized exactly what that feeling from earlier had been. Fear raced through her body. He heart started to hammer. She could feel herself swallow as if she was trying to hold in all of the fear. She took a deep breath trying to calm her body, but the feeling was still there. It was the feeling that mice got the moment that they sensed danger as an instinct in the back of their already programmed mind. It was the feeling that birds got deep in their heart right before they took of in a confused and panic flight. It was the feeling that you were being hunted and that somewhere, someone in the shadows was watching you. Those invisible eyes. The ones she dared not look for. That is what she felt.
Crack. The sound of a breaking twig made her leap to her paws, her desire to keep herself from looking frightened and from making whatever was in the shadows think she didn't know about their presence hidden, was broken. Beat...beat...beat. beat. beat. beat beatbeatbeat. The racing rhythm of her heart picked up more and more and she felt it rock her whole body as her gaze looked into the surrounding bushes and trees, searching for any sign of those invisible eyes that must be looking at her. She searched again for that scent, but in her panic she couldn't focus on another but the sound of her heart pounding away at her body. "W-w-who's t-there?" she stammered into the shadows. She could almost taste the fear on her voice and it tasted like bane. She swallowed, trying to get some of er under control and took a deep breath before trying to speak with less of a weak tone to her voice, "Whoever you are...you-you better show yourself." Or what? You'll attack? Yeah, right. Even though she didn't want to admit it, she knew that voice in her mind was right. She was nothing but prey at that moment. That was just the sad but true fact.
