The VA will pay for home care, yes. Of course, there is a qualification process. There are several options. The one we at Visiting Angels is familiar with, is the one where the VA pays the caregiver with an approved agency, to provide home care to qualified Veterans.
Here in our area (Bay Area) there is a county-paid Veterans Services support group. They can guide a Veteran on what they qualify for benefits and even help with those. This is FREE here. There are agencies out there that use the word “Veteran” in their name but they are NOT part of the VA or sanctioned by the VA and they will take a portion of what the Veteran gets. A VA ep told us at Visiting Angels that it is best to use the county paid service - they know the system, and that is how it should be.
